The article is based on the fact that the main requirement of our time is the formation of a literate
person, inclined to society, able to show his abilities, developed, multilingual. The meaning of the terms polyglot-man,
discursive competence is revealed, and a characteristic of his discursive competence is given. The difference between
the term ―multilingual person‖ and ―polyglot person‖ is determined. The main attention is paid to determining the
continuity of communicative competence with other types of orientations and describing the universal orientations that
form discursive competence. Thus, it was found that language learning necessarily has different levels of competencies (communication, reading, interaction, speech), which adapt to the development of the comprehensive abilities of the
language learner. They say that the higher the level of language proficiency, than the higher the professional level of a
person.
