The article discusses the place of Jadid schools in the education system, formed in Central Asia at the end of the XIX-beginning of the XX centuries, and the features of their teaching methods. The relevance of the study is determined by the formation of jadeism as an educational movement aimed at modernizing the traditional Muslim education system and its influence on educational activities in the Kazakh steppe. The purpose of the study is to identify the prerequisites for the formation of Jadid schools, describe the main pedagogical principles of the "new method" and analyze its impact on the educational activities of the Kazakh intelligentsia and the practice of creating the first textbooks. In the course of the study, methods of historical-comparative, historical-systemic and comparative-pedagogical analysis were used. The materials of the research are scientific works on the history of jadidism, the Kazakh enlightenment and the Alash movement, as well as research on the Jadid method of teaching and the first Kazakh textbooks. As a result of the study, it was found that the main features of Jadid schools are related to the introduction of a sound method of literacy, the systematic organization of the educational process, the use of new teaching aids and the expansion of the content of Education. At the same time, it was determined that the Jadid pedagogical principles are connected with the educational and educational activities of the Kazakh intelligentsia and are aimed at communicating knowledge to the student in an understandable and accessible way. The results of the study allow us to evaluate Jadid schools as one of the most important stages in the modernization process in the history of Kazakh education. The practical significance of the study is due to the use of the experience of Jadid teaching in historical and pedagogical research and the study of the history of educational thought in Kazakhstan.
