This article examines the motivation for choosing a profession among future teachers using the (D)FIT-Choice scale. In the context of global digitalization and transformation of the educational environment, understanding the factors influencing the choice of a teaching profession is becoming especially relevant. The purpose of the study was to adapt the international (D)FIT-choice tool to the Kazakhstani context and assess its reliability. The study involved 417 undergraduate and graduate students of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Management in Education. The methodology included translation and cultural adaptation of the scale, as well as testing its reliability. The results confirmed the high reliability of the scale and its compliance with the original structure. Data analysis showed that among the perceptual factors, “professional expertise” and “high workload” received high marks, and among the motivational factors - “internal value of the subject”, “internal value of teaching” and “shaping the future of children and adolescents”. This indicates that future teachers, on the one hand, are aware of the complexity and professional requirements of the profession, and on the other hand, have a strong internal and altruistic motivation focused on the value of teaching and its impact on the future of students. At the same time, the indicators on the scales of “backup profession”, “social restraint”, “time for family”, “previous experience of using digital technologies” and “social status” were below average, which indicates that students do not consider teaching as a backup career, experience minimal social pressure when choosing a profession, have limited digital teaching experience and maintain a low social prestige of the teaching profession. The adapted scale demonstrated good suitability for use in the Kazakhstani educational environment, which allows us to recommend it for further research on the motivation for choosing a teaching profession. The data obtained can be useful for developing educational programs, as well as for increasing the prestige of the teaching profession in the context of digital transformation.
