The article examines the methodological features of teaching the elements of mathematical statistics using Microsoft Excel. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing need to develop students’ statistical, digital, and analytical literacy in the context of the digital transformation of modern education. The research analyzes the capabilities of Excel for data processing, performing statistical calculations, applying built-in statistical functions, creating charts, visualizing results, and interpreting quantitative data. The article presents a practical task entitled «Selecting a Player for an Esports Team», based on a real-life scenario, and demonstrates effective approaches to explaining the concepts of the arithmetic mean, median, and standard deviation. The findings indicate that the use of digital tools enhances students’ ability to analyze, compare, interpret statistical data, draw evidence-based conclusions, and make informed decisions. Furthermore, Excel automates time-consuming calculations, reduces computational errors, and enables learners to focus on understanding the meaning of statistical information rather than routine computations. The results confirm the significant pedagogical potential of both Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets for teaching mathematical statistics. The proposed methodology promotes the development of functional literacy, critical thinking, research skills, digital competence, and an effective data-driven culture among students.
