This article addresses the issue of psychological and pedagogical support for primary school children with delayed mental development (DMD) in modern general education settings. The relevance of the topic is determined by the growing number of children who experience difficulties in mastering the curriculum, show emotional and volitional instability, reduced motivation, and problems in social interaction. The aim of the study is to identify the developmental characteristics of children with DMD, determine effective support methods, and evaluate the results of comprehensive corrective work. The article explores theoretical foundations of the concept of “delayed mental development,” provides a description of cognitive, emotional-volitional, and communicative characteristics of these children, and presents the results of psychological and pedagogical diagnostics. The support program, including individual and group developmental sessions, play-based techniques, speech therapy, work with parents and teachers, is described in detail. The final diagnostics revealed improvements in attention, memory, thinking skills, reduction of emotional tension, development of voluntary behavior, and increased social adaptation. The results confirm the high effectiveness of a systematic approach to supporting children with DMD and emphasize the importance of integrating corrective measures into the educational process. The article’s materials can be used by educators and specialists to design individual educational routes, develop correctional programs, and organize support systems for children with delayed mental development.
