The article examines the features of the formation and manifestation of leadership in the youth environment under the conditions of transformation of contemporary social processes. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing role of youth as an active subject of social change and the need to develop leadership qualities in young people that contribute to their successful social and professional self-realization. The purpose of the study is a theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of youth leadership in the context of social activity and the identification of factors that contribute to the development of students’ leadership potential. The research methods include analysis and synthesis of scientific literature, comparative and systemic approaches, as well as the method of theoretical modeling. The results of the study indicate that social activity acts as a key condition for the formation of leadership qualities in the youth environment, while extracurricular and social activities create the most favorable conditions for their development. It is shown that leadership in the youth environment is contextual in nature and is determined by the specifics of group activities, the level of personal subjectivity, and the characteristics of the social environment. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of applying the obtained conclusions in the development of youth policy programs, educational work, and the development of leadership potential of students in educational institutions.
