The implementation of the country's socio-economic strategy largely depends on the effective use
of the potential of cities and the correct identification of ways and directions for their development. Considering the
increased relevance to the problems of smart cities, their innovative development and a significant role for the competitiveness of national economy of Kazakhstan research interests of scientists focused on the development of smart
cities.
The purpose of this article is to study certain factors of urban development and develop scientific and practical
proposals and recommendations for improving the management system of the «smart city», increasing its export
potential and improving the well-being of the population. The goal can be achieved by studying the scientific and
theoretical aspects of the subject, collecting, processing and analyzing statistical data using scientific methods, building
an economic and mathematical model to confirm hypotheses. The solution to these problems and obstacles can be the
application of a new model for improving cities – the implementation of the «Smart city» concept.
