The article is devoted to the events of November–December 1928, when the leader of the US Republican Party, the first Quaker president in the history of the country, Herbert Hoover, who had just won the presidential elections, undertook a "Good Will" tour of 10 Latin American countries with the aim of normalizing international relations with the countries of this region, which is so important for the United States of America. The article analyzes the causes, course and first results of this international event, which is quite unusual for the sphere of diplomatic relations. The authors used scientific monographs and articles by American researchers, the “Memoirs” of H. Hoover, as well as English-language Internet resources, including materials from the official website of the Hoover Presidential Library and Museum, as their main historical sources. The chronological order and composition of the mission, its features in various Latin American countries, characteristic features and interesting facts related to this tour are indicated. The authors come to the conclusion that the "Good Will" mission undertaken by the 31st President of the United States Herbert Hoover to some extent became the forerunner of the "good neighbor" policy of the next, 32nd President of the United States – Democrat Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
