The article examines the acute problem of industrial wastewater treatment at enterprises of the oil refining and petrochemical industries. The existing sewage treatment plants, built in the 60-80 years of the XX century, do not meet modern requirements due to equipment wear and changes in the composition of pollutants. The cleaning efficiency is 30-75%, which leads to environmental pollution and high costs for ecosystem restoration. Solving the problem requires a radical reconstruction of cleaning technologies, replacement of outdated equipment and the introduction of advanced scientific and technical achievements.
